- Grow My Freelance Business
2018 hands down has been one of the best years of my life, to keep it short, I went to Disney World for the first time, started my freshman year of college, and received a ton of college scholarships. If I had to name an ultimate highlight of the year, it would be starting my freelance business.
I finally got the nerve to start a freelance writing business when I started watching very successful and inspiring Youtubers like Adrianxpression, Justinj1232, Nicholas Chae, and Elliot Choy just to name a few. Seeing people that I watch doing what they love and get paid for it is the biggest eye-opener I’ve ever had.
Not only can I do what I love, but I can make a decent amount of money doing it and at a young age! Some of those Youtubers I watch are college aged like me and if they can do it then it just inspires me to give it a try which is why I started this blog about 3 months ago and started cold-calling people nonstop to land clients.
With more investment and perseverance than 2018, I know that there is no limit to how much I can grow my business.
2. Read More Books
As a college student in her freshman year, I think it’s really important to start taking some time out of my day to read a book. I also got this from one of the Youtubers that I watch and to be honest, I miss reading. I used to love reading when I was kid but I fell out of it in high school when we started doing “forced” reading.
At this point in my life where I’m not sure of the career path that I want to take, I think reading inspiring books that have been recommended to me in the past is very important and something I will make more of a priority in 2019.
I plan on reading more business-centered books as well by reputable business owners who have received a lot of success over the years because I’m hoping to start and expand an empire one day.
3. Exercise, Exercise, Exercise!
Now I know that this is one of the more cliche New Years Resolutions and to be honest I make this resolution every year but never follow through. But as I started out in college, I was five minutes away from a gym so I steadily made it more and more of a priority.
I don’t want to beat myself up working out in the gym and frankly with all of the classes I am taking, I simply don’t have enough time to work out in the gym seven days a week. I’ve been trying to stick to this goal of exercising 3 days a week for 1 hour to stay physically fit.
Eating better meals also ties into the exercise part as well since I am trying to eat better meals. To do this, I’ve been avoiding carbs and I’ve been eating as much protein as possible with fruits and vegetables. It also helps that there’s a dining hall downstairs from my dorm.
4. Maintain My Mental Health
Another thing that I found more and more important as I continue through college is the importance of mental health. I think maintaining your mental health is often overlooked especially in college because of how much work college kids are expected to do in such a short amount of time.
I’ve learned a lot of coping mechanisms for mental health like meditating and exercise but I also want to go to therapy this year as well. I think going to therapy is a great way to maintain your mental health because everyone has an inner demon that they need to let out.
Learning how to time manage better has also helped me when it comes to my mental health because it teaches me how to be productive in my studies and my freelance business but to also make time for myself when I feel like I need it.
5. Write in a Journal
This might be a bit of a corny New Years Resolution, but I really want to get back into writing in a daily journal just to sum up how my day has gone and the things that I have learned as well.
As my life gets more hectic with more travel and experiences, I want to make sure I capture as many moments as I can so I can remember them later on down the road.
I also want to make sure that I have a journal to create goals for myself in the future. I’m starting to set more and more goals as I progress through life and I am also starting to complete more of those goals as well and having a journal would be a great way to make sure I’m reaching my goals for the year.
